Fujitsu VX/3 Selma
Selma has 3 processors or Processing Elements (PE) in Fujitsu's terms. The Processing
Element consists of a Scalar Unit and a Vector Unit. Each PE has a peak performance of
2.2 GFlop/s and 2 GByte memory. Since Selma is a 3 PE machine the maximum performance of Selma is 6.6 GFlop/s with 6 GByte of memory. The Scalar Unit employs a Long Instruction Word RISC architecture, enabling execution of up to three operations simultaneously in a single clock cycle. The Vector Unit consists of pipelines, vector registers and mask registers. The PEs are constructed using CMOS technology.
The processors are connected via a high speed Crossbar Network. We have achived speeds of 500Mbytes/sec.
Selma has 88 GByte of disk space and a total of 6 GByte of memory. The memory throughput is 36.4 GByte/s.
The OS, UXP/V is based on the UNIX System V release 4. Batch processing is managed by NQS.
The programming environment is based on Fujitsu's Fortran90 compiler.
Documentation for the VX/3 is available in HTML .
